About Us:
Established: June 2003
Just for Kicks Dance and Tumble has been a cornerstone of the Hampstead community since 2003, when it was founded by Janine and Jim Polera. As parents of two dancers, the Poleras created a studio grounded in family values, quality instruction, and a love for the art of dance. Their vision was to provide a space where students could grow through discipline, creativity, and performance—whether recreationally or competitively. Over the years, Just for Kicks became known for its talented staff, high-energy classes, and welcoming environment for dancers of all ages.
In 2013, Marla Roberson stepped into the role of Owner and Director. A lifelong dancer, Marla brought her passion, experience, and warmth to the studio, continuing the Polera legacy while making her own lasting impact. With a background in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, clogging, and hip hop—and over 17 years of teaching experience—Marla nurtured generations of dancers in both classroom and competitive settings. Her love for children and dedication to the Hampstead community elevated Just for Kicks as both a local institution and a second home to many, growing the studio from 60 to over 300 students.
Today, Just for Kicks enters an exciting new chapter under the direction of Gina Hill, a professional dancer, choreographer, and educator with decades of industry experience. As the new Owner and Artistic Director, Gina brings a fresh vision rooted in technical excellence, mentorship, and creative expression. With a performance résumé that includes national tours, television appearances, and choreography for high-profile productions, Gina is committed to honoring the studio’s strong foundation while guiding its future with passion and purpose.
From preschool tumblers to pre-professional dancers, Just for Kicks remains devoted to fostering a supportive and inspiring environment where every student can thrive. We’re proud to continue a legacy of excellence in dance and tumble education—right here in Hampstead, NC.
